   Ear Training

In order to project sound properly on an instrument, it must first be heard properly in the mind.  Ear training builds a student's ability to tell notes from one another, hear intonation properly and perceive intervals correctly, integrate a good sense of rhythm in to their playing, and so much more.  A student who has a high level of proficiency in ear training is undoubtedly ad an advantage to learn pieces quicker, with more accuracy, and with a higher level of consistency.

LMA Core History courses are divided into groupings of levels 1-10, starting from the very beginner level, through advanced level courses.  In order to take elective courses, a student must pass the 400 level exam.

Every student must take a placement exam in order to be enrolled in the appropriate level.
