Dr. Anisimov has taught in various music programs at Merit School of Music (Chicago, IL), DePaul University (Chicago, IL), Northwestern University (Evanston, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI) and others. He and his parents - WCCM instructors Ludmila and Yuri Anisimov - are recipients of an award (2010) from Carroll University’s Project Create / Carroll Academy “In Recognition of Your Dedication and Commitment to Students in Our String Program”.
 
Maxim holds a Doctor of Music degree in guitar performance from Northwestern University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in violin performance from Carroll University (formerly Carroll College). As a violinist, he has performed extensively and recorded four albums with the group Strings of the Heart. As a guitarist, he has given world premiers of works by Christine Liu, Nomi Epstein and Kenn Kumpf, and has performed in masterclasses with numerous world renowned guitarists and lutenists including Paul O’Dette, Nigel North, Jacob Heringman, Hopkinson Smith, Oscar Ghiglia, Lorenzo Micheli, Stanley Yates, Stephen Aaron, Eduardo Fernandez, Raphaella Smits. During the course of his studies, his guitar instructors included Bill Brenckle, Dr. Lawrence McDonald, Kevin Gallagher and Anne Waller, and violin instructors Ludmila and Yuri Anisimov, Mikhail Tokarev, Roberta Carpenter.
